Safely clean granite side unfinished?

I assumed the task of cleaning the church of my baptism of Police before the Easter Vigil. It is actually a source of diamonds in it, unfinished rough granite or glazed with putty around the edges. Can anyone recommend a good way to clean without damaging granite or caulking?
