If you plan a trip interstate, some states have school holidays at the same time and some other points of overlap in a week.
We live in Victoria and we have friends in Sydney and in general we have a week off overlap. So to get a week together, we make the overlapping week or so we're planning a stay of several weeks, than work around week overlap and lead our children to school for a week or two. Here is a guide for each holiday break so you can work off Interstate vacation easier.

Spring Break – NSW, WA, SA, ACT spend their spring break the same dates September 25 to October 10. VIC, QLD, NT Spring break a week with the territory of states superimposed on vacation and check the dates below.
Tasmania has 3 terms, if any of their holidays playing with the other state or territory.
